US artist/architect Adam Kalkin began utilising the shipping container in his work circa 1994, exemplified in the iconic Quick House, which rapidly became an icon for the 21st century prefabricated dwelling. This book documents 32 of Kalkin's projects. From the paired down module of domestic object, Monk House and the hydraulically operated Push Button House, to the Illy commissioned coffee environment and the temporary retail manifestations of Pop Up Shops. Accompanied by essays from Barry Bergdoll (Chief Curator of Architecture & Design at MoMA), Alastair Gordon (Critic) and Will McLean (Architect, Editor and Publisher).
